Professor Moiemen joined the Birmingham team in 2000 and played a significant role in establishing designated Burns Centre status for adults and children in 2008. He is the Clinical Lead of the Midlands Burn Network ensuring equity of care and seamless clinical pathways across all providers of burns care in the region.
He has led the burns research in Birmingham since 2012 with the opening of the Healing Foundation (now Scar Free Foundation) Burns Research Centre which operated until 2017. The Centre established a strong foundation of clinical and academic collaborations across the UK. Following on from this Professor Moiemen was instrumental in establishing the new Scar Free Foundation Centre for Conflict Wound Research, which commenced activity in September 2018, and is now the Centre’s Director.
In addition, Professor Moiemen is President of the International Association of Burn Injuries (ISBI), past President of European Burn Association (EBA) and the British Burn Association (BBA). He is a member of the senior editorial board of BURNS and Journal of Burn Care Research (JBCR), Journal of Burn and Trauma and past deputy editor of Journal of Burn and Trauma (JBT). Professor Moiemen is on the Board of Trustees of the International Burn Foundation IBF and Board of Trustees of the VTCT Vocational Training Charitable Trust (2018-Current).
