Role within SRMRC

Paul Harrison is researching into the influence of both burn and traumatic injury on the systemic inflammatory response with a particular focus on haemostatic and thrombotic parameters. The team has discovered a number of candidate biomarkers for the early diagnosis of sepsis in burn injury that will be confirmed in an ongoing larger prospective study. We are also studying the ultra-early response to traumatic injury and its role in determining response and patient outcomes to injury. Paul is also a collaborator on the PATH-2 (Platelet Rich Plasma in Achilles Tendon Healing) trial coordinated by the University of Oxford. His main interests are Neutrophil Extracellular TRAPs, platelet biology, inflammation, platelets in regenerative medicine, flow cytometry, platelet counting, platelet kinetics, platelet function testing and extracellular vesicles.
