I completed my Masters in Biochemical Engineering and my PhD in Clinical and Experimental Medicine from the University of Birmingham (in 2018). During my PhD research, I developed and optimised a gel-based drug delivery systems through fabrication of a wound dressing and fluid gel eye drop formulation, incorporating an anti-scarring drug to prevent scarring in eye and skin, suitable for clinical trial.
Maryam is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow, supervised by Professors Ann Logan and Tony Belli funded by the NIHR SRMRC. Her role is to develop an anti-scarring, biodegradable, dural substitute and skin wound dressings to prevent scarring after decompressive craniectomy and for skin wound healing. She is also aiming to identify and test appropriate methods to evaluate the efficacy of an anti-scarring drug released from the developed formulations.
