Colin Bergin and Arlo Whitehouse have been nominated for a Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Best in Care Award in the Brighter Futures category.
The pair were involved in organising and managing the International Surgical Outcomes Study (ISOS) in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, which was one of the research study sites. The aim of the study is to learn more about surgical treatment and outcomes worldwide.
Colin and Arlo trained staff from a range of hospital departments and specialties, who worked together to recruit patients and collect data. Due to the SRMRC team members’ efforts, 189 patients were recruited to the study from QEHB within a one week period, which was nearly five times the average from across all UK study sites.
Colin and Arlo really do deserve recognition for their time, effort, and diligence, which have resulted in an extremely successful contribution to a major international research study.
They will attend the Best in Care Awards, to be held at the Tally Ho Conference and Banqueting Centre, next Thursday 23rd October.
