Healing Foundation UK Centre for Burns Research
The Healing Foundation Centre for Burns Research looks at understanding how the body responds to burn injury and developing new treatments. The centre is based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham with the NIHR SRMRC, and shares a number of leading researchers, including Prof Janet Lord and Prof Ann Logan. The centre for burns research is a partnership between University Hospitals Birmingham, University of Birmingham, Ministry of Defence, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, University College London and the Royal Free Hospital in London.
West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust
The regions emergency ambulance service, who respond to approximately 3,000 ‘999’ calls each day. As the Centre evolves our work has led us to collaborate more closely with services working in the pre-hospital environment, including WMAS.
NIHR Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Programme
The HTA Programme is the largest of the NIHR programmes. We fund independent research about the effectiveness, costs and broader impact of healthcare treatments and tests for those who plan, provide or receive care in the NHS.
NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre
This NIHR-funded Centre has several research themes that are relevant to the NIHR SRMRCs agenda and including:
- Brain Injury and Repair
- Immunity, Infection and Inflammation
- Transplantation and regenerative medicine
These similar interests spark the potential for collaboration between the two Centres.
US Naval Medical Research Centre
The US Navy Medicine’s research and development laboratories’ goal is to support and protect deployed Navy warfighters through high quality research. Their research themes include:
- Infectious diseases
- Combat casualty care
- Epidemiology and behavioural sciences
Beckman Institute at University of Illinois
The Beckman Institute at Illinois is a world-class interdisciplinary facility devoted to ground-breaking research in the physical sciences, computation, engineering, biology, behaviour, cognition and neuroscience.

Based at the University of Maryland Medical Centre, this world leading trauma facility

Institut Pasteur is an international research institute of excellence with a mission to advance science, medicine and public health. it is a private, non-profit foundation with recognized charitable status entrusted with four core missions of public interest – Research, Education, public health, and Valorisation of scientific research via technology transfer and industrial partnerships.
